Come 2020 more changes are coming to Original Medicare. Just a couple include, the elimination of the donut hole in the prescriptions drug plan and the elimination of the F Medicare Supplement Plan. For those persons who already have the F Medicare Supplement they will be grandfathered in and allowed to keep their coverage.
Medicare Supplement Plans / Structure. Medicare Supplements work with Original Medicare. They can be used anywhere in the country without referral as long as the institution accepts Medicare. Your plan can never be canceled as long as you pay the premium. If approved by Medicare, most of these plans pick up most or all of the balance of your hospital expense.
Can I get a Lower Medicare Supplement Premium. Medicare Supplements do increase in premium over time. Just because your company increases does not mean that you do not have options. Since the plans are standardized you can shop coverages & compare rates. For example, the F plan coverage is the same with all companies, but the premiums may vary. Often a new company comes into the State with no claims experience so they can offer the same plan at a lower cost.
Are all Med Supplements Plans alike. In reality yes. There are 10 plans written by the government given to the various insurance companies to sell. Each of these plans (i.e. F, G, N, etc.) offer the same coverage. The only variation is in premium.
