Traveling with teens? A recent report from AAA showed that crashes significantly increased during the summer months for drivers age 16-19. This drove the average number of deaths to 16 percent more than any other point during the year.
The report was based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The agency also offers useful tips to encourage drivers of all ages to be proactive about safe travel. Some of the most critical tips include the following.

On the road, remember to stay alert, don’t use your cellphone and avoid risky driving behaviors.
Keep safety first by always buckling up and having the appropriate child safety seats, if needed. Remember to lock your doors to protect against theft and never leave children unattended in a vehicle, which is especially dangerous in the summer when interior car temperatures can easily exceed 100 degrees.
